Rodale awarded 5 year contract to manufacture AN/ALE-47 CMDS

President John B. Clement of Rodale Electronics announced his company has been awarded a five year production contract to manufacture the AN/ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispenser System used by most Department of Defense and Foreign Military Sales aircraft. The AN/ALE-47 CMDS is an integrated, reprogrammable, computer controlled system to dispense expendable/decoys to enhance aircraft survivability. The system operates in automatic, semi-automatic, bypass and manual modes, including up to 6 manual dispense programs that the pilot and/or aircrew can release.

ALE-47 CMDSThe AN/ALE-47 is currently installed on approximately 20 different airborne military platforms, including major fighters, attack, patrol, cargo, tanker and helicopter aircraft roles. The main tactical mission is self protection from RF, IR, and EO threats from AAA, SAM, AAMs, and AIs. It is fielded on approximately 3200 combat air vehicles, including critical missions in the Global War on Terror. ALE-47 LogoThis contract is particularly important to Rodale in that it supplies the Air Force, Navy, Army and Foreign Military Sales altogether. The CMDS design enables the system to counter future threats through MDF modification and the ability to carry newly developed expendables, in addition to chaff, flare and radio cartridges.
